So-called ‘Bullet-time’ ice skating has failed to capture the hearts of spectators worldwide, scaring many children and leaving parents universally worried from fear of imitation.
The technique, mimicked and named after the special effect as seen in “The Matrix” trilogy of movies, has made the triple salchow from the big screen to the frozen rink courtesy of its creator, U.S. skating champion Michael Weiss (pictured below).
Television networks have opted to only film Weiss from the knees-down during competitions, an act drawing both praise and criticism.
